Getting Motivated!

J.H. completed the "How to Get Motivated" Course.

"I started this course because it is a prerequisite to the course I really want to do. I went in thinking that I already knew all the data and that I really don't have a problem with motivation.

It turns out I am pretty well motivated but this course included great stable data about handling problems that I had not studied before and boy, was that fun!!

Now I am much better prepared to tackle not only the things I want to do but also the things I'm not so thrilled about. Thank you to the mission and LRH. It really is a life improvement course!

I realized I have looked up to, believed and followed people whose emotional state was very low during my childhood and early adulthood- hence the false data and nasty valences. But underneath this, my biggest realization was that I wasn't really that stupid, needy and unobservant- I decided I had to be that way as a baby/tiny person in order to be part of my family dynamic. They wanted a "baby", a sweet, stupid baby. So, I pulled the blanket over my eyes and went along with their game. It feels great to remember this and especially to get back all that I lost. I can write again and draw things from my imagination (which was a big ruin of mine for years). I have always had amazing stories in my head but I could never fully translate them onto paper. That barrier is now gone. All of this is quite amazing and it all started with getting the tech from the PTS/SP course. This made it possible for me to even get in session! I continued a strong comm line with Mr. Hubbard evey day (during study) and this kept the realizations coming and saved my life from a potential situation with a crazy person. I love my group (Soma Mission) and you guys have no idea how much I appreciate you for supporting me and helping me regain these abilities. He had this to say about it: "After the rigid training with my teacher, I feel that I now can hear and recognize different types of communication in real life. It is now up to me to use the tool that she gave to me to fulfill my roles in life as a father, as a husband, as a great citizen and to continue communicating properly so that I do not become a criminal in this universe. Mr. Hubbard said not to communicate is a crime. Communication is the heart in life. Without communication, you are basically dead.

D.P. finished the book and lecture course for Advanced Procedure and Axioms/Thought Emotion and Effort. She said, "I loved this course! Get to Know Your Camera

Marc began taking photographs in the 1960s, starting his career in photography at the legendary Peninsula School where he eagerly learned composition and darkroom skills. He took frequent trips with camera to the mountains and the coast, falling in love with the beauty and the spirit of the Sierra and the California coast. Through his images he has been able to capture the expression of the spirit, each telling a story, whether of the spirit of nature or the spirit of the individual.

Marc studied the works of masters such as Ansel Adams, the Westons and Henri Cartier-Bresson but quickly forged his own unique style and quality.

He honed his skills at the celebrated San Francisco Art Institute. Founded in 1871, the Art Institute is one of the oldest and most prestigious schools of higher education in art and photography in the United States. The Art Institute’s photography department was founded by no less than Ansel Adams and Minor White.

Silber’s work covers a full range from action shots, to candid portraits to landscapes. His series from the Sierra Madre, Mexico gives us a rare glimpse into the remote mountain region above Mazatlan, days by jeep and foot. He tells of the people being so grateful for the medical help that his project brought that he was allowed to photograph and capture their life in a completely intimate manner.

Though Marc moves through his fifth decade as a professional photographer he is still constantly exploring approaches, styles and projects.

Marc is an OT VIII and a Class VIII Auditor as well as an accomplished public speaker and loves to teach photography through his workshops and published works. Often his workshops have accompanied his exhibits, with excellent reviews.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted

The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.

Amber brought a selectee into the SoMa Mission. Her name is Kathy and her daughter had passed away. Her daughter had been friends with Amber so when Kathy received a ticket inviting her in to watch the Introduction to Scientology DVD, she decided to give it a shot. She met with David and received an introductory session of Self Analysis auditing. She liked the auditing and signed up for a course. She told Amber that last night (after the session) was the first time in awhile that she had good dreams and that when she woke up she had a lot more energy than usual. Here is an email she sent to Amber today:

Helping an Employee with Scientology Life Improvement Course

I am an FSM (Field Staff Member) for Palo Alto Mission. Recently I was having trouble with a junior at work - I caught him doing some dishonest things that would ordinarily get him fired in any work situation. Instead of firing him, I decided to get him some help by routing him onto the Personal Values and Integrity course at the Mission. I told him not to come back until he was done with the course and then I'd see if I would hire him back. I chose this particular mission because of the very personal care they were willing to give. Well, two days later he finished the course and came back to me with a BIG change in viewpoint. He had lots of wins and insights - he said his vision went far. I could see he had changed, not only in relation to the job, but I could see the rest of hi life come into order where it had been chaos. So, I let him back on the job, he did TONS better! His sales stats were way up! His tone level was up! He was being honest and straight with me. What a product! This is after only two days! He got it. He is now winning greatly in life. Instead of experiencing a discreditable lose, he is creating great success with his new-found understanding of integrity tech. His life really was saved. He wants to do more services and will be routing onto Success Through Communication Course. This also is a major change. It took me 12 years to get him onto services. Now he WANTS to go. So, I would like to thank Palo Alto Mission for delivering excellent service. These people care and they are EFFECTIVE. Their high affinity, reality and communication with their public supporting technical standardness can't be beat. It is so good to be able to depend on this group to come through on their delivery. I see now that I can trust them completely with my selectees!

Problem: How do you, without using force, get a child to do things?

Solution: People think that persuasion works with children. It doesn’t. It’s communication that does the trick. You say, “Well, it’s time for you to go to bed now,” and he says, “No.” Don’t stay on the subject. Leave it alone and just talk about something else, “What did you do today?” “Where?” “How?” “Oh, did you? Is that a fact?” “Well, how about going to bed?” and the answer will be “Okay.”

One doesn’t have to use force. Go into communication with the child, and control follows this as an inevitability. Omit control from the beginning when bringing up a child and he who looks to you for a lot of his direction and control is gypped. He thinks you don’t care about him.

My brother is winning with Scientology

Question: The way things are in the world freaks me out! I feel anxious and afraid of what might happen. What can I do?

Answer: Don’t Read the Newspaper

This is very simple. Don’t read the newspapers for two weeks and see if you don’t feel better.

Then read the newspaper for a week, and at the end of that week you will find you feel worse. Then make up your mind whether or not you ought to pay any attention to the newspapers.

This is proposed as a simple experiment. It isn’t even an expensive experiment — as a matter of fact, it is cheaper not to buy newspapers than to buy them.

This is a simple action, but a very effective one which can markedly change your outlook on life. Give it a shot.

I'm worried and feel out of control on my job and don't know what to do. Can Scientology help me with this?

This book by L. Ron Hubbard is a very basic book giving the reader tons of information on how to use Scientology technology to do better at work or career, improve relationships and more. You'll find out about the three components of understanding and how to improve them. Contact the mission to purchase. This book was just updated, corrected and expanded. It's amazing.

Introductory Services in Scientology

There are lots of free introductory services that you can do at the Scientology Center. These services will answer questions you have and give you some basic information on the subject. They are fast, free and always available. Introductory services include a tour, a film, personality testing, the bookstore enlightenment system (where you can listen to a recorded lecture by L. Ron Hubbard) and public display panels. Photos show a few of these.
